To expand on this, they have tried to get Portishead all three years, but it has never worked out. I remember there was something about Beth (I thought) having a kid last year, so she is reluctant to travel to North America for a one off show now.

For me, Portishead has become that elusive act that I will never see, even more so than Daft Punk. When they do tour the states, they don't come to the south east. At this point, I would be more surprised if I do see them than I would if I don't.
